"I had half unconsciously come to believe that frozen, dark pockets of traumatic memory stored in my body . . . would limit my life forever, perhaps through lifetimes before and after this one. Half unconsciously, I believed I did not have the necessary courage to loosen and release what felt like packed black masses of ancient woundedness–in my arms, my stomach, my heart, etc. I am sixty-three years old; I have attended countless healing workshops; why did I ultimately return to myself each time as too much a body in pain and fear?

Even in all this doubt, I came to the 'Lightwave Body in Love' seminar at the Kalani Retreat Center this time with hope; hope perhaps small as a mustard seed. I am fed up with ego protections and projections that keep me "safely" diminished as a lover, a leader, a steady and powerful presence of visionary life in the world around me.

In previous Soulwave sessions, and in several not-quite-completely integrated life experiences, I had known my potential for this fully-expressed being; I was now ready to give everything I had–stretch or drown–to this week's training.

For seven days, Katie coached us vigorously, believing in each of our potentials to become filled with light; to refuse our historical and daily "deliveries of darkness" (loose paraphrase L. Cohen). She coached us with love, with passionate energy, with persistence and patience. Through the space she held for us, consistently, in constancy (I think here of the biblical sense of "constancy"), I was able to begin refusing habitual, half- unconscious identification with the body in pain and fear I thought of as myself. I was able, through her inspired, brilliant coaching (I do not exaggerate), to bring a sustaining energy of light into my dense, locked-down body: heart, arms, stomach–and more. Through breath work, body waving, and mysterious permutations of love, we were taught to practice–and, most importantly to me, integrate–being a lightwave body in love–i.e. moving light into the body, breathing light through the body, clearing (really) and melting the ancient particulates of our dense inner masses. I experienced both the choice and the power I have to increase light exponentially, each day, on and on, a regular practice. I cannot leave the experience behind as a spectacular training and week in, YES, Hawaii; my commitment to my life is ongoing, passionate, inspired, humble, prayerful, dutiful: a dwelling in the house of breath and soul.
